Bahrain: Final Verdict on Al-Wefaq Closure
2018-02-19 - 8:51 p
Bahrain Mirror: The Court of Cassation decided on Monday (February 19, 2018) to uphold the closure of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, the largest opposition political group in Bahrain.
During its hearing today, the Court rejected the appeals filed by both Al-Wefaq (defendant) and the Ministry of Justice (the plaintiff) against the ruling to close down the society and liquidate its funds.
The Court ruled in one of the terms of the appeal to accept it in form and in substance by revoking the challenged verdict and obliging the respondent to pay the expenses of the lawsuit and 100 dinars as attorney fees.
The Court upheld the first instance court ruling obliging the plaintiffs to pay the expenses.
