Appeals Court Upholds Life Prison Term against 2 Suspects Accused of Causing Blast in Ma’amir

Bahrain Mirror: The First High Appeals Court upheld a life prison term against 2 out of 5 suspects accused of causing blast, acquiring explosives without a license from the competent parties and damaging a bulldozer owned by the Interior Ministry, for a terrorist aim, bound them to pay together 250 BD for the damages and ordered the confiscation of seized items.

The authorities claim that on August 14, 2015, while the police were performing their duty in Ma'amir in removing barriers and while a bulldozer owned by the Interior Ministry was removing the wooden and iron barriers place by the protestors, an explosion that was planted between the barriers blasted and damaged the vehicle.

The authorities say that they relied on the attesting witnesses and confessions of defendants in proving the criminal offense.
