Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's largest opposition society, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, condemned the arrest of Shiite cleric and former Al-Wefaq MP Sheikh Hamza Al-Dairy, after a court upheld a one-year jail term against him, over taking part in Diraz protest held in support with Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim.
In its statement, Al-Wefaq considered the arrest of Al-Dairy "a condemned and rejected action that comes within a targeting series against clerics in Bahrain that has not stopped." It added that "the arrest of Sheikh Al-Dairy is a wide and systematic scheme aimed against Shiite community in Bahrain."
Al-Wefaq called on the international community to put an end to this scheme and press the Bahraini government to release the arrested clerics "Sheikh Al-Dairy, Sheikh Al-A'ali, Sayed Al-Mashaal and Sheikh Al-Qashaami", who have been recently arrested.
