Bahrain Mirror: The Ministry of Health in Bahrain said that medications that have approached their expiration date do not lead to any side effects or affect the patient's health.

The Ministry explained that it is keen on the control and quality of medical drugs that are dispensed, adding that it follow ups and studies the safety of traded drugs as well as monitor the side effects that may occur for any reason.

This came in response to a newspaper article entitled, "Expired medicine dispensed to my mother".

The Ministry said it works in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization, which recommends using the drugs up until the last day of validity, stressing that "specialists in this field indicate that the dispensed drugs close to expiration date do not produce any side effects or have any adverse effects on health."
