Bahrain Mirror: A Bahraini court on Monday (October 29, 2017) issued a verdict revoking the citizenship of two of detained Bahraini citizens and sentencing them to 7 and 10 years in prison, over charges related to politically motivated cases, also fining them 100,000 dinars.

The Bahraini authorities claimed that the detainees are affiliated to a terrorist group, which they said is linked to the February 14 Revolution Youth Coalition and the Al-Wafaa party.

Bahraini authorities use the judiciary and the revocation of citizenship as a tool to punish dissidents in the country and to silence pro-democracy demands, according to reports by international human rights organizations.

Joe Stork, deputy director of the Middle East division at Human Rights Watch, had previously said: "Bahraini courts - civilian as well as military - have been part of the machinery of repression that makes a mockery of fair trial standards when it comes to political dissent."
