Bahrain Mirror- Exclusive: Bahrain's Court of Appeal upheld on Thursday (October 26, 2017) verdict dissolving National Democratic Action (Wa'ad) Society.

The Ministry of Justice had filed a lawsuit in March, demanding the dissolution of Wa'ad Society for its "serious violations aimed at targeting the principle of respect for the rule of law, support for terrorism, coverage of violence, glorification of persons convicted in terrorism cases, use of weapons, murder, which left a number of security personnel killed and others injured, advocating parties convicted of inciting and practicing violence, and promoting the overthrow of the country's political system by force."

On May 31, 2017, the High Administrative Court ruled the dissolution of the secular opposition group.

Wa'ad is considered to be the third opposition society that has been dissolved since the outbreak of mass protests in the country in 2011, following the Islamic Action Association (Amal) and the National Islamic Wefaq Society, the largest opposition group that was dissolved a year ago.
