Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini security authorities released on Tuesday (June 20, 2017) prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Fadhel Al-Zaki after around one year of imprisonment.
Al-Zaki had been summoned to interrogation on August 6, 2016 over the background of the protest held outside the house of the spiritual leader of Shia majority, Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim. He was then sentenced to 6 months in prison, however, he remained more than 6 months in prison to finish his sentence over Manama assembly case.
After revoking the citizenship of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim, the authorities summoned dozens of Shiite clerics and arrested a number of them, which prompted condemnations from Human Rights Watch and other Bahraini human rights organizations.
