Bahrain Mirror: The Bahrain Airport authorities banned (Wednesday November 9, 2016) deputy Secretary General of the European-Bahraini Organization for Human Rights, Fatima al-Halwaji, from leaving the country.
Al-Halwaji is one of many rights and political activists whom the authorities ban from leaving the country. The most recent case was that of activist Monzer al-Khour, who was banned from traveling last Saturday by the King Fahed Bridge borderline authorities.
Bahraini authorities have been banning activists and rights personnel from leaving the country since last June. In return, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, High Commissioner for Human Rights Zayd bin Raad Hussein, Washington and London denounced this measure.
