Bahrain Mirror: The Public Prosecution questioned on Friday (September 16, 2016) the opposition leader and Secretary-General of Al-Wefaq Society Sheikh Ali Salman over a letter he addressed to the UNHRC in Geneva.

Information revealed that the prosecution did not bring any official charge against Sheikh Salman.

Salman, who is serving 9-year jail term, had delivered an address during the periodic meeting for the UNHRC in which he called on the international community to support the Bahrainis' democratic demands.

For its part, the Public Prosecution said that it "had received a notification from the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation that a convict had delivered a letter, through someone, to a foreign party that included false news and tendentious rumors on the situation in Bahrain likely to tarnish the kingdom's reputation and undermine its image.:

"The Public Prosecution summoned the convict from his jail and listened to his testimony in the presence of his lawyer concerning the content of the letter attributed to him. The investigation into the case is continuing," it added.
