Bahrain Mirror: Activists on social media said that the public prosecution released 3 Shiites clerics who were detained yesterday over delivering speeches or taking part in protests in Diraz that has been witnessing an open strike since over a month against revocation of Sheikh Isa Qassim's citizenship.
The public prosecution released each of Sheikh Jassim Al-Khayat, Sheikh Aziz Al-Khidran, Sayyed Yassine Al-Mosawi, religious reciter Abdul Jabbar Al-Dirazi, Radhi Al-Qatari as well as youth Hassan Marzooq.
Lawyer Sadiq Al-Dirazi said that the prosecution released all those who were arrested over taking part in a protest on Friday (July 15, 2016) in Diraz.
However, the lawyer said that the prosecution detained 7 citizens from Diraz for 15 days pending investigation over assembly. The detainees are: Jassim Mohammad Jamil, Mahmoud Mohammad Jamil, Hussein Mirza Al-Obaidi, Abass Abdullah Kassim, Jaafar Abdullah Kassim, Abdulhadi Abdullah Ahmad Kassim and Jaafar Mohammad Abdullah Al-Asfour.
The Bahraini authorities intensified its campaign against the Shiites since the revocation of Sheikh Isa Qassim's citizenship and dissolution of Al-Wefaq, the largest opposing society in the country. The authorities summoned dozens of citizens and Shiite clerics for interrogation and charged a number of them of holding assembly and inciting hatred against the regime.
Human rights activists say that the Shiite sect is being subjected to systematic targeting in its beliefs, figures and religious rituals.
The authorities prevented prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour from leading Friday congregational prayer in Al-Diraz Mosque last Friday.
