Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Fourth High Criminal Court, presided over by judge Ali bin Khalifa Al-Dhahrani with the memberships of judges Osama Al-Shadhili and Wael Ibrahim, and Ahmad Al-Sulaiman as secretariat, acquitted in absentia a Bahraini youth (19 years old) of the charge of assembling and starting a fire at the entrance of the Ras Ruman village for lack of evidence.

A policeman claimed that while performing his duty at the entrance of Ras Ruman at about 7pm, a group of around 15 youths assembled, blocked the entrance of the village with rocks and trash cans, started a fire, attacked the policemen, hurling stones at them and then fled away. The policeman, along with other policemen, chased the youth and arrested the suspect.

However, the suspect denied having any links to the incident and said in his statement that he was returning from a club in Ras Ruman to his home. The prosecution accused him of deliberately setting fire to the said objects, endangering people's lives and properties, as well as taking part in an assembly of more than 5 people, aiming at disturbing public peace and endangering people's lives.

The court said that the case papers lack evidence, thus doubted that the defendant took part in the incident and acquitted him.
