Bahraini Appeals Court Upholds Prison Sentence against Stateless Ibrahim Karimi Over "Insulting King"

Bahrain Mirror: The Second High Criminal (Appeals) Court, presided over by judge Ibrahim Al-Zayed with the memberships of judges Wajih Al-Shaer and Ayman Mahran and Youssef Bou Hardan as secretariat, upheld on Wednesday (May 4, 2016) the verdict against the stateless Ibrahim Karimi who was stripped of his Bahraini nationality, sentencing him to 2 years and 1 month in prison and fining him 2,100 Bahraini dinars. Karimi was convicted over charges of insulting the King of Bahrain, inciting hatred against the regime and acquiring a taser.
Bahrain's Court sentenced Karimi to one year in prison and fined him 2,100 Bahraini dinars over charges of insulting the King of Bahrain and inciting hatred against the regime and another year for "insulting a sister state, Saudi Arabia," also fining him 100 BD for having possession of a Taser.
The authorities arrested Karimi after the Saudi authorities executed the prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr Al-Nimr and convicted him of managing the "Fareej Karimi" account that posted tweets criticizing the Saudi execution of Al-Nimr.
