Bahrain Mirror: The Associated Press reported that Michel Forst, the UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, demanded the release of the human rights defender, Zainab Al Khawaja and her one-year-old baby.
The association said that Forst made a statement on Friday (March 18, 2016) regarding the detention of Zainab al-Khawaja and her son.
Al-Khawaja is a daughter of a prominent activist serving a life sentence for taking part in the Arab Spring uprising that took place in Bahrain in 2011.
"Zainab Al-Khawaja faces several years in prison on a variety of charges linked to her activism, including tearing up pictures of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa," it added.
