Bahrain Mirror: Bahrain's main opposition group, Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, called on the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to help reveal the fate of former Member of Parliament detainee Sheikh Hassan Isa, urging it to call on the Government of Bahrain to immediately release him.
In a statement issued on August 22, 2015, Al-Wefaq said that there is vagueness "overwhelming the situation of the prominent Bahraini figure, Sheikh Hassan Isa, who won the parliamentary elections with the highest percentage of votes in 2010, before the eruption of the pro-democracy protests and political crisis in 2011. He has been arrested for over 85 hours but no information has been made available on his condition yet. His lawyers were prevented from seeing him and attending his interrogation. The Authorities have not declared the reason for his arrest which took place upon his arrival at Bahrain International Airport with his family on August 18, 2015."
"The continued vagueness that overwhelms the fate of the religious scholar and former MP Sheikh Hassan Isa raises concerns and highlights the difficulty of the situation," added Al-Wefaq, demanding his immediate release and urging all concerned international parties to help reveal his fate.
