Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): Bahraini security troops used force to disperse mass rallies staged on Friday (June 12, 2015) to protest against the continued imprisonment of Bahrain's opposition leader, Sheikh Ali Salman.
Security forces fired teargas canisters at thousands of protestors who were taking part in a demonstration in Al-Diraz, west of the capital, Manama, under the slogan "We will not Leave the Security-General" referring to Al-Wefaq's Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman, whom the authorities arrested about six months ago.
Thousands took to the streets of a number of villages across the island kingdom, such as Bilad al-Qadeem, Al-Musalla, Karrana, Maqaba, Karzakan, Malkiya, Al-Dair and others. Meanwhile, security forces used force to crack down on demonstrators. Some reports revealed that police forces arrested a number of protestors.
A Bahraini court has adjourned the case of Sheikh Ali Salman to June 16, 2015 after Salman's lawyers complained about not being allowing to defend Salman, who was prevented from entering his plea.
Bahrain's senior clerics issued a statement last week in which they demanded the release of the opposition leader, indicating that this step contributes to establishing a phase of understanding that can save this country from its crises.
