Bahrain Mirror: The Bahraini Public Prosecution decided to take an American citizen into preventive custody for a week over attacking a Bahraini taxi driver.
Chief Prosecutor of the Capital Prosecution Nawaf Al- Awadhi, stated that "one of the criminals was arrested, while the rest fled," adding that "the suspect after being presented before the Public Prosecution said that he participated in the incident by lying on the hood of the vehicle, as he was kidding around with his friends. He; however, denied attacking the victim."
"the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and was taken into preventive custody for a week. The victim's state of health was examined as an introductory step to have him undergo a forensic examination and continue the investigations to refer the suspect to trial," the chief prosecutor added.
He also highlighted that "the prosecution received a report from a man in his 60s stating that while he was working as a taxi driver in Juffair, he was surprised to see three foreigners leaving one of the hotels. One of them lied on the car's hood. The driver warned him several times to move away, but he did not respond. The driver slightly drove the car and when the latter fell off the hood, one of his friends opened the car's door and started to beat the driver and then the other suspects joined him"
