Saudi Official: Bid to smuggle RDX from Bahrain to Foiled

Bahrain Mirror: An Interior Ministry spokesman said that the Saudi customs officials thwarted an attempt, on Friday (8 May 2015) to smuggle highly explosive load that was coming from Bahrain, according to Al-Riyadh Saudi newspaper.
He stressed, "At 8:15 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015, security authorities thwarted an attempt to smuggle highly explosive material RDX with detonators specified to explode the materials and arrested the smugglers after the Saudi customs suspected a Ford Fusion car coming through the King Fahd Causeway."
"During inspection, the officials found 14 plastic bags hidden inside the back seat of the car. Eleven of the bags had some metallic coating, included a pasty material and weighed 30.87 kg. Forensic tests proved the material was the highly exploding RDX and that there were two bags containing 50 pieces of explosive material, in addition to a bag that was hidden inside a detonator of 6 meters," according to Interior Ministry's spokesman.
He indicated, "The competent security authorities started an investigation in coordination and with their Bahraini counterparts in order to determine the goals of this attempt and identify the culprits."
