Bahraini Prisoner: Jordanian Forces Torturing Us Are Like ISIS

2015-04-24 - 1:20 am

Bahrain Mirror (Exclusive): One of the detainees held in Jaw Central Prison, who refused to disclose his name, described the Jordanian police who are responsible for the prison's security and for torturing them since the Jaw Prison incident (March 10, 2015) as forces similar to ISIS (The Islamic State in Iraq and the Greater Syria), noting that they were subject to their extremely brutal treatment.

His family who visited him in Jaw Prison said that if anyone reports about the torture or abuses taking place in the prison or sends a complaint to the ombudsman office, the detainees will be subject to more torture at the hands of the Jordanian police.

They said that their son told them that torture is still ongoing and that anyone who asks to pray or use the restroom will be tortured. He also pointed out that whoever requests a shower will be bathed with sewage water and whenever a detainee talks to his parents over the phone, he will be beaten 10 times for every minute of the call.

The detainee's mother reported that her son said that "security forces order us to sit every day from 1 PM until 6 PM leaning on our knees, lowering our heads to the floor and raising our hands," also stressing that they are "still being held in tents that don't protect them from the heat of the sun or the cold of the winter," and that they "only sleep for three hours every night."
